These high performance battery charging devices are offered in linear or switching topologies and are completely autonomous in operation. Our battery charger ICs offer many standard features for battery management and safety, including on-chip battery pre-conditioning, current limiting, temperature-controlled charging, monitoring and protection, telemetry via SMBus or I2C interface, and support for high voltage, multiple-cell and multi-chemistry batteries with a single device. Analog Devices’ USB charging and management products utilize key battery charging features and include a PowerPath circuit topology that enables managed power flow, allowing a load to be powered from both VIN and the battery. Our USB charging products offer shorter charging times, instant-on operation (even with a dead battery), and more flexibility for the device designer. Both linear charging for simplicity, and switch mode for higher charging efficiency topologies are offered.
